BUYER’S LOG | FW17 Preview Part 3: Tokyo

Journal

The finale in the buying tour required a short stop off in Tokyo. I visited some of HAVEN’s powerhouse brands in visvim® and COMME des GARÇONS while seeing some new collections that may make an appearance at HAVEN in the near future.

Got lost galavanting around Shibuya deciding where to eat. By the time I settled on a spot everything had closed and I had to settle for 7-11 rice balls. Good start to my trip. First meeting in the morning: COMME des GARÇONS.

Junya Watanabe showcased a small collection of graphic tee featuring prints from Berlin graffiti collective 1UP.

Pendleton flannels make a return this season.

The Beatles COMME des GARÇONS mannequins rocking some vibrant wigs.

Longtime friend and Tokyo tour extraordinaire Laurent showing me the best local spots in between meetings.

Between their Paris and Tokyo exhibitions theres lots to love next season for fans of visvim®.

Next stop was Gallery of Authentic to view the new Foot the Coacher collection.

I wasn’t able to read their sign, and the staff wasn’t able to speak much English, but this spot cooked some mean taco rice.

He’s a model alright…

Yogoro is a local favourite curry spot in Shibuya. It’s tucked below ground level with only this hand drawn sharpie cardboard piece for signage. For those who know only.

I was told the owner and head chef here learned to cook by watching YouTube videos. Laurent and I ordered their signature dish the Spinach Chicken Curry.

Skoloct sighting outside Yogoro.

D*Face in Harajuku.

Nasty Neckface

If you’re a fan of Takoyaki like I am, visit Gindaco in Harajuku, its a popular chain for good reason as this was one of my favourite dishes from the trip.

This is the end of a long leg of travelling, with more to come in March and April. Signing off for now.
