Developed and released as part of its FW16 spot collection, Arc’teryx Veilance offers a subtle update to its innovative leather accessories collection this season. Engineered from Horween’s full grain tanned leather to considered specs, this 4 piece capsule features laminated and stitchless construction, while boasting enhanced durability.
“What we were able to achieve was something that’s so smooth, so flat, and so streamline – in a way that’s completely non reliant on any sort of sewn processes. It’s an entirely laminated process, but it’s also, inherently, a very strong construction. We worked with Horween leather tannery to develop the right hide for this. It has a waterproof finish, and we specially selected this leather because we wanted something that would not take on a dramatic patina. A crucial concept of Veilance product is durability and while they last for a long time, they don’t necessarily become exceptionally worn in terms of developing a patina, so we wanted a leather that would reflect this. Obviously it will have some changes over use, but it’s a very hardwearing leather in that form. Even after developing it and working with the tannery to have this specific leather we’re still applying our own process to it. We’re taking it from the tanner and we’re splitting it at Arc’teryx into very fine, very precise layers, so that we’re able to make such a low profile wallets.” – Arc’teryx Veilance
