HAVEN / Mountain Research Spring/Summer 2020 Collection

This season, we team up with Setsumasa Kobayashi, creator and designer at Mountain Research. A quiet force in the Tokyo streetwear scene for over 25 years, Kobayashi launched General Research in 1994, changing the name to Mountain Research in 2006 and sharpening his focus on utilitarian outdoor gear.

Kobayashi created a specialized, dual-branded logo for the collaboration, underscored by Mountain Research’s “Anarchy In The Mountain” ethos. The integrated HAVEN “H” is fused with Mountain Research’s “Anarcho” logo, in a distinguishing application. Made entirely in Japan, our collaboration is centered on one of their most iconic silhouettes: the Jacket w/Vest. This piece is built with a mimic layered design, with a fishing vest laid over a bomber jacket base. The jacket is built with durable, yet lightweight, cotton and nylon grosgrain, while the vest features in a nylon flight satin for subtle contrast.

This unique piece offers ample storage, with a series of seven patch pockets at the chest, fastened with Velcro® and zip closures. Our collaboration also features the Phisherman Trousers, in a modular, two-way construction. Inspired by fly fishing, these pants are crafted with a durable CORDURA® ripstop and offer detachable, zip-off leg panels, allowing quick conversion for multi-season wear. The pants are amplified with a series of Velcro® flap cargo pockets that encircle the waistband.

Additional pieces in this collection include the A.I.T.M. Hoodie and T-Shirt, as well as a custom designed Bandana and Protester Bear plush toy In its shaggy, synthetic polyester boa construction, the Protester Bear conceals a zippered stash pouch, and sports a dual branded face mask and t-shirt.
