A BREAKTHROUGH INSULATION PROMPTED BY MILITARY DEMANDS
Throughout the 20th century and into the present day, military demands often form the impetus for innovations and breakthroughs in mainstream culture, technology and consumer goods. PrimaLoft offers a prime example of this process, when in the 1980’s the United States Army Natick Soldier Research in Massachusetts reached out to its connections at Albany International Corp, an advanced textiles company based in New York state. They tasked them to create a synthetic insulator for use in sleeping bags and clothing systems that offered comparable performance to down in terms of insulation, weight, and packability. While down offers extreme lightweight warmth, its main drawback is that it loses its warming properties as soon as it gets wet. After years of development, PrimaLoft was born and quickly gained notoriety amongst a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts for its lightweight warmth that remains effective even in wet conditions. Today, PrimaLoft continues to be the global leader in synthetic insulation, being used by over 900 brands globally and trusted by olympians, mountaineers, hunters, designers, militaries and explorers alike.
LIGHTWEIGHT AND DYNAMIC WARMTH WITH EXTREME BREATHABILITY
For our FW21 collection we utilize PrimaLoft® Gold, the pinnacle level of PrimaLoft® insulation, optimized for protection in extreme conditions and during high-output activities. PrimaLoft® insulation uses millions of synthetic microfibers, just a fraction of the diameter of a human hair, that form a tight collection of air pockets. These air pockets trap heat to your body and keep cold air out, providing an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. PrimaLoft® also insulates even in the wettest weather, maintaining 98% of warmth in wet conditions and also dries extremely quickly. In addition to its thermal properties, PrimaLoft® offers unmatched breathability, packability and exceptional softness.
TURBINE JACKET – DICROS® MAURI POLY / PRIMALOFT®
Our Turbine Jacket modernizes the timeless Flight Jacket with performance technology, cold weather protection, and a contemporary fit. The exterior is crafted from a premium DICROS® mauri fabric. Sourced from Japan, DICROS® mauri is a lightweight, water-repellant and windproof polyester fabric. The high-density weave allows the fabric to retain a cotton-like feel and appearance without wrinkling or losing its shape. The supple ripstop lining conceals Primaloft® Gold insulation. Large patch hand pockets are secured with a snap flap, while a zip utility pocket at the sleeve provides additional storage. A hefty dual gauge wool knit ribbing at the cuffs and hem prevents the entry of cold air and the jacket is finished with an original YKK METALUXE® zipper closure with inner wind guard. STATION JACKET – DICROS® MAURI POLY RIPSTOP / PRIMALOFT®
Our Station Jacket is a modernized rendition of the iconic trucker jacket unified with technical performance attributes. To combat inclement weather we craft the jacket from a durable, breathable and wind and water resistant DICROS® mauri Ripstop performance fabric with lightweight Primaloft® Gold insulation. Sourced from Japan, DICROS® mauri is a lightweight, water-repellant and windproof polyester fabric. The high-density weave allows the fabric to retain a cotton-like feel and appearance without wrinkling or losing its shape. The supple ripstop lining conceals Primaloft® Gold insulation. We added an original YKK METALUXE® dual zip closure that is concealed with a snap button fastened storm flap. The chest pockets have been enlarged for modern utility while a zip pocket concealed in the chest pleat and concealed side seam zip hand pockets provide secure storage during travel and daily commuting. STORM PANTS – DICROS® MAURI POLY RIPSTOP / PRIMALOFT®
Our Storm Pants are inspired by military issue ECW pants and are an essential garment for cold weather protection. To combat inclement weather we craft the pants from a durable, breathable and wind and water resistant DICROS® mauri Ripstop performance fabric with lightweight Primaloft® Gold insulation. Sourced from Japan, DICROS® mauri is a lightweight, water-repellant and windproof polyester fabric. The high-density weave allows the fabric to retain a cotton-like feel and appearance without wrinkling or losing its shape. The relaxed construction features a quilted interior with 60 gram PrimaLoft® Gold insulation. A custom fit is offered with side belt adjustments at the elasticated waistband, as well as bungee cuff cinching, fastened with cord lock toggles. Two large thigh pockets allow for easy access to everyday essentials along with a rear welt catch pocket for your valuables. Made in Canada.
