Established in 2010, Garrett Leight California Optical (GLCO) focuses on creating contemporary classics with timeless designs and by sourcing the highest quality component materials. As a child of the founders of eminent sunglasses purveyors Oliver Peoples, Garrett was brought up in the forefront of the optical industry; taking part in the daily operations at a young age. Born out of Venice Beach, California, the creator and the brand both share heavy inspirations from the beachfront community. Influenced by the characters that frequent Venice Beach the frames are created with a combination of “beauty, youth, art, fashion, photography, music, architecture, and design”. The Venice Beach culture is reflected in the core branding, with models named after a local street and hardware engraved with the neighborhood’s zip code “90291 VC/CA”. In the pursuit of quality the components for each frame consists of custom or vintage acetate from Italy or Japan; German hardware; and premier lenses from Italy, Japan, or New York 1950’s to 60’s dead stock. GLCO offers classic aesthetics in the best quality materials at reasonable price points.
