HAVEN Canadian Handknit Range

Hand knitting is a centuries-old technique, with roots dating to the 19th century and traditions found within indigenous cultures of the Pacific Northwest. The wool fibres are painstakingly hand-spun, working the robust wool into a bulky yarn. Thanks to this process, the wool yarn contains a considerable number of air pockets, enhancing its heat retention and lightweight feel. The yarn is then hand knit by local artisans in British Columbia in a custom pattern. These qualities give the garments a unique hand-crafted appearance that is rare in the age of mass production and with proper care they will continue to age gracefully for decades.

The Cypress Cardigan is built with a virgin wool yarn in a custom wide waffle pattern that gives it a significant weight and rugged hand feel in addition to significant thermal properties. The low profile collar features a ribbed structure allows for a range of layering and creates a distinct silhouette of a bomber jacket. Structural deerskin leather panelling is tanned, dyed, punched and stitched, all by hand. These supple panels are stitched at the elbows with deerskin leather lace, creating a truly one-of-a-kind piece and adding durability for a lifetime of wear.

Our Pacific Parka is a versatile garment that acts as a 3-season jacket or cold weather mid-layer. The body and hood is constructed with a custom wide waffle knit pattern that has a distinct textural appearance. We apply raglan sleeves in a contrast classic knit that reduces bulk for easier layering and provides a wide range of movement. Patch pockets with ribbed edges offer convenient storage and can be used to keep your hands warm, while a rib knit hem and cuffs helps prevent the entry of cold drafts. Finishing the garment is a custom YKK Excella™ two-way M8 zipper with our signature Horween leather zipper pull.
