For Fall / Winter 2020 we work alongside Canadian boot maker Viberg to create two custom silhouettes in premium Horween leather: the Officer Derby and Service Boot. With a rich history spanning over 80 years, Viberg has garnered a reputation as one of the best bootmakers in the world by retaining a commitment to old world production methods performed by skilled craftsmen. Our Service Boot is a new interpretation of the original work boot, designed by Edwin Viberg in 1931, updated with a custom YKK Excella zipper at the medial panel. The timeless and understated Officer Derby silhouette features a 6-hole design and draws influence from traditional Canadian military footwear. Both are made in Horween Chromexcel leather that undergoes 89 separate processes, and takes 28 working days to turn it into the distinctive, smooth leather. This leather is waxed with a blend of tallow and beeswax to achieve an evenness and weatherproofing unmatched by other tanneries. The Service Boot and Officer Derby is built on Viberg’s popular 2030 last, with a low-profile and almond shaped toe and each utilize a rugged Vibram 1276 Sierra sole and EVA cushioned midsole that are stitched down using resoleable Goodyear welt construction. An English Kip leather lining round out the details and every pair includes flat and rounded waxed cotton laces and Venetian® leather balm for cleaning and protecting the boots.
